Looking to Donate Clothes or Other Items to Holy Apostles? Here’s What You Should Know

07.27.22 | Food for the Soul

For those looking for ways to support Holy Apostles and the guests that visit us, there are many opportunities to do so. Individuals or companies can donate or volunteer to help support our meal programs and our social services department.

If you’re looking for a different way to get involved, we do accept donations of certain items that our guests can use. Some groups have hosted toiletry-kit events, where they pack bags of items that our guests are always in need of, such as deodorant, razors, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

When thinking about donating a certain item to Holy Apostles, we ask everyone to make two considerations:

  1. Please launder used clothing items before donating them, even if it items have been in storage.
  1. Generally, if you wouldn’t use it due to damage or wear, we likely will have to throw it away too. Please refrain from donating items with rips, tears, or holes.

For our unhoused guests, items like toiletry kits are always needed. For those living on the streets, having access to a disposable razor, deodorant, and soap can make a big difference in their day to day lives. Another commonly requested item is baby diapers for the families that visit our Food Pantry.

We also accept backpacks (adult) or duffle bags, socks (new & unused only), large and extra-large t-shirts, men’s pants and shorts, men’s underwear (new & unused only), gently used men’s shoes (no worn-down soles), canes, umbrellas, disposable ponchos, and baby formula or food.

Donating new or gently used items is a great way to support our community. If you have any questions about what items can be donated, please contact us at [email protected], or download this flyer to share with your network.
