The second book in our Summer Reads 2021 is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. In this deeply researched novel, Kidd imagines what it might have been like to be the wife of Jesus of Nazareth. She paints a rich portrait of life in the first century, including some of the familiar parts of the Gospel along with less well-known aspects of what it was like to be a woman at the time. Mother Susan will lead a discussion group on this book after the 11 am service today starting at about 12:00 pm – either in the Mission House or the Church.
