Our first parish book this summer is The False White Gospel: Rejecting Christian Nationalism, Reclaiming True Faith, and Refounding Democracy, by Jim Wallis, the theologian, activist, and founder of Sojourner’s magazine. Wallis’ goal is to reclaim the true gospel and Christian faith while dismantling the false claims of White Christian Nationalism and its advocacy for white supremacy and autocracy. This book feels particularly relevant in our current political climate and as we remembered our semiquincentennial anniversary as a country this summer.
