Our friends at Starbucks have been long-time partners of Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. Through bringing in groups to volunteer and delivering delicious coffee to our staff and volunteers, Starbucks has been supporting our mission for years. We are excited to announce that we have officially been awarded a Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grant for 2022.
Local Starbucks partners who have volunteered at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen nominated us for this grant and with their help, we were selected to receive this funding. Since 2019, the Starbucks Foundation has contributed $7.5 million to over 3,500 organizations via their neighborhood grant program.
The Starbuck’s Foundation Neighborhood Grants program helps people directly in our neighborhoods. “We know that our impact in communities is most meaningful when our efforts begin with our partners (employees) who know their neighbors best,” said Starbucks chief social impact officer and The Starbucks Foundation board member Virginia Tenpenny. “Since the beginning Starbucks has been about more than coffee. We are a people company rooted in a mission to nurture the human spirit. To do this well, we will continue to invest in meaningful ways to help our communities thrive.”
This grant will help us to provide hearty meals, plentiful groceries, and connections to services for vulnerable New Yorkers. We look forward to having our friends at Starbucks back at the Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry to deliver the services this grant will be funding.
