Support Asylum Seekers at Holy Apostles

08.30.22 | Donate, Food for the Soul

As New York City faces an influx of asylum seekers arriving after long bus rides from Texas, Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen is continuing to adapt to the changing needs of our community, including those who have just arrived in our city. For those looking for ways to support these migrants and all of the guests at Holy Apostles, we’ve put together a list of some of the ways you might be able to help:

Legal Aid: One of the most needed services at Holy Apostles is legal assistance for immigration matters. If you or anyone you know may be able to secure pro-bono legal aid, this help is desperately needed.

Remote Research: If you’re looking for a way to volunteer remotely for Holy Apostles, we’re currently looking for researchers with access to the internet. We need your help in researching services and resources that are available to migrants arriving in New York City. We are also looking to research the current asylum policies for Venezuelans to help our guests navigate the legal system.

In-Person Volunteering: Our Social Services department is in search of additional Spanish speaking volunteers to help offer support, provide IDs, and answer questions for our guests.

Financial Contributions: As always, donating to the Soup Kitchen is a great way to support all of the guests that visit us. You can donate to our current fundraising campaign for NYC students & asylum seekers here.

In-Kind Clothing & Supplies Donations: Due to the current surge in guests at Holy Apostles, our team is looking to restock our Clothing Pantry and Social Services Department. Men’s clothing, especially in large or extra-large sizes, and shoes are most needed. You can read more about what’s needed here.

To get involved in any of these ways or if you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
