We’re mourning the loss of Ben Tabatchnick, CEO of Tabatchnick Fine Foods who passed away on November 16th 2014. Ben, an original founder of City Harvest, had been donating to Holy Apostles since the mid-1980s when he and his wife Rita first volunteered.
In 2012, Ben and Rita rekindled our old relationship and committed to providing soup to our guests as a way of giving back to the community. Since April 2012, they have donated over 500 gallons of Tabatchnick soup every week to feed hungry New Yorkers.
Ben was an entrepreneur who saw any challenge as an opportunity, a loving father and husband and someone who strongly believed that no one should go hungry. He believed strongly in the Jewish concept of Tikkum Olam, which means to repair the world and make it a better place. We will miss him and are grateful to Tabatchnick Fine Foods for their ongoing support of our work.
The Tabatchnick family has elected Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen as the charity for any donations to be made in Ben’s honor and these can be made by clicking here.
