Today’s prayer, For Those We Love, is the favorite of Matthew Reeg. It can be found in the Prayers and Thanksgiving portion of the BCP, pp. 814-841:
Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to thy never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that thou art doing for them better things than we
can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP, p. 831)
Matt writes: “I have a lot of ‘favorite’ parts of the prayer book, but I think I go back to this prayer most often (in the moments before a service/after communion–when prayer books are available). I like the idea that God has ideas for us that are more expansive than we can possibly even think to pray for.”
