Good Corporate Citizen: IAC

01.27.21 | Donor Stories, Food for the Soul

With below-freezing temperatures and snowstorms, the winter is a challenging time for many of our guests at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. They turn to us for a hot meal on these frigid days, and for protection from the cold. Thanks to our partners at IAC, we are providing warmth and safety to our guests in the form of life-saving care packages this winter

Good Corporate Citizen IAC made a generous donation to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, enabling us to purchase cold weather essentials for 500 guests who don’t have their own place to call home. These funds allow us to distribute hats, scarves, gloves, thermals, hand sanitizers, socks, and hand and toe warmers to our guests during freezing days.

The team from IAC also sent volunteers to the Soup Kitchen, who generously gave their time to pack these care packages and prepare them to be handed out to our guests who need them most.

“This winter has been especially hard on our local community and we feel fortunate that we are able to help Holy Apostles make a difference for those who are struggling,” said Suzanne Kennedy, IAC’s Head of Philanthropic Giving. “Holy Apostles is a remarkable organization with a rich history and IAC is proud of our longstanding partnership.”

Good corporate citizens like IAC are a crucial part of the work we do at Holy Apostlesproviding the essentials we know our guests need to get through the winter. Thanks to IAC’s partnership, we are able to focus on raising funds for coats and other key items to pair with these care packages and keep our community warm during this dangerous time. If you’d like to join these efforts, please consider donating, or even fundraising on behalf of the Soup Kitchen!

As shelters and warming centers throughout the city are forced to operate at limited capacity, these essentials are even more important for those on the streets. One guest told us, “My hands are so much warmer now!” after putting on a pair of our donated gloves. Another guest said, “These will definitely help me stay warm. My housing situation is hard right now and it’s difficult these days to find shelter. New York is so expensive. So, these will definitely help me stay warm outside – thank you!”

Thank you to Good Corporate Citizen IAC for keeping our unhoused neighbors safe and warm this winter.
