Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen’s Inaugural Virtual Food Drive

05.21.21 | Food for the Soul, News & Events

We’re all looking forward to rebuilding from the COVID-19 pandemic and doing the things we’ve all missed over the past 15 months. But as New York reopens and we look forward to recovery, our guests are still facing food insecurity and economic uncertainty and our services are more in demand than ever. That’s why we’re launching our inaugural Virtual Food Drivea community-driven campaign to ensure that we can keep serving meals and distributing groceries throughout the summer months, when donations tend to be lower, but the need is great.

Our Virtual Food Drive is a campaign that calls on you, our incredible community of friends and supporters, to tap into your network and provide a helping hand to the New Yorkers who visit our meal programs over the Summer.

For many of our guests at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, as COVID-19 case numbers decrease, the financial crisis they’re facing only increases. We’re already hearing stories about landlords threatening to evict the families who visit our pantry program, and we’re working hard to connect them to resources to help them pay their back rent. Every day, visitors to our food pantry express their gratitude to the community of supporters who make our work possible. It’s one less expense they have to worry about so they can save their money to pay their rent, and keep their children safely housed and fed.

There are many ways to participate in the Virtual Food Drive, including creating a campaign page for yourself or a team and sharing our mission and message with your friends and family, encouraging them to donate. You can also engage with the campaign on social media, using tools and graphics we’ve developed for you.

The funds you raise during the Virtual Food Drive will be used to purchase food for our pantry program, our grab-and-go meal service program, and our Meal Outreach program. These three services help us to meet New Yorkers wherever they are: those that come to us for a hot meal, those living on the street who can’t make their way to the Soup Kitchen, and those that need help getting groceries to cook at home.

We hope that all members of our community will consider participating in the Virtual Food Drive. Getting started is easy!

  • Create an account & fill out the rest of the information

As soon as you create your fundraising page, our team will email you a toolkit with all the information you need to fundraise for the Virtual Food Drive. Your support will ensure no one is turned away empty-handed this summer. With your help, no matter what hardships our guests may face, they’ll know they have a community of support here at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.
