Good Corporate Citizen: RVD

12.16.21 | Food for the Soul, Volunteer Stories

Here at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, our volunteer community is essential. Each week, they help us provide meals for those in need by packing groceries for our pantry families, handing out hot meals for our Soup Kitchen guests, and distributing food to the New Yorkers who come to our door. Our Good Corporate Citizens are an important part of this community, and thanks to their support, we’ve never had to turn someone away without a meal.

One of those Good Corporate Citizens, our friends at RVD Communications, helped publicize our Operation HopeFULL campaign, which allowed us to stay open throughout 2020 and during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York. We’re so glad they were able to join us for a Day of Service during the busy week before Thanksgiving!

The team at RVD Communications helped us to distribute groceries, including turkeys, to 279 households on Tuesday, November 16. These bags included over 15,000 pounds of food and provided nourishment to our community.

We asked Rachel Van Dolsen, Founder of RVD, about why their team gives back through Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. She told us, “When Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen reached out to us early on in the pandemic, asking if we could help raise awareness about their hunger relief efforts, it was a no-brainer for our team. We’re proud to be among the many volunteers and donors who have provided a lifeline to New Yorkers during one of our city’s most challenging times.”

We’re thankful for our partners at RVD for generously donating their time to the Soup Kitchen, both through their volunteer Day of Service and through the professional services they’ve provided to us over the years. To learn more about how your company can become a Good Corporate Citizen, click here
