At Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, many people work together to provide food to our guests. Individuals and companies provide monetary and in-kind donations for the ingredients that go into each meal, our culinary team develops recipes and prepares meals, and our dedicated team of volunteers makes sure that everything comes together each day.
Many of our volunteers come to us as part of a group from a local company or organization. So far this summer groups from Avego Management, Google, Jamestown, Green Key Resources, Coach, Stuart Weitzman, 360PR, Milbank, and RVD PR have joined us for volunteer days of service. Each one of these groups, alongside individual volunteers, served our guests by packing grocery bags or handing bags of groceries at our Food Pantry.
Each volunteer group that visits us makes a key difference in the lives of our guests. Volunteer groups return to us time and time again to give back and some individuals who joined us first as part of a group activity have come back to volunteer on their own. Becoming a volunteer is one way you can join the community of Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.
Many of the groups that join us are from local companies that have offices in the Chelsea area. Volunteering in your neighborhood gives employees an opportunity to give back in their own backyard. Anthony Perez Cassino of Milbank says it best: “Volunteer programs like the project with Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen enable all of us to get more involved in our local communities with experiences that make an immediate and tangible difference in people’s lives. It’s inspiring to see how excited our employees are to work together for the good of the community outside of our office.”
Volunteering at Holy Apostles is a meaningful way to give back and a great team-bonding experience. If you’d like to learn more about how your company can get involved with our mission, click here to view our Corporate Engagement Opportunities.
