Company Volunteer Group Opportunities are BACK!

06.30.21 | Food for the Soul

Here at the Soup Kitchen, we always say it is our volunteers who make our work possible. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we would see hundreds of volunteers each week who would help pack pantry bags, hand out meals, and provide a welcoming environment for our guests. When the pandemic hit, we had to suspend our volunteer program temporarily for the safety of volunteers, guests, and staff. In the last few months, we have slowly reintroduced the volunteer program and while it looks different than it did before, our volunteers are once again the backbone of the work we do here at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

Now that we are increasing volunteer capacity, there is ample opportunity for companies to engage their employees in volunteerism through our Good Corporate Citizen Program.

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen offers branded volunteer events for employees of businesses who support the Soup Kitchen’s mission with charitable financial and in-kind donations. Groups of about 15 employees from our partner organizations can come in to help, packing up bags of snacks for our Soup Kitchen guests and preparing bags of groceries for families who are enrolled in our Pantry Program. In just one group volunteer session, around 500 bags of groceries can be packed for New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity.

The members of our Good Corporate Citizen Program know just how large of an impact their teams can make. As Anthony Perez Cassino from Milbank told us, “Volunteer programs like the project with Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen enable all of us to get more involved in our local communities, with experiences that make an immediate and tangible difference in people’s lives. It’s inspiring to see how excited our employees are to work together for the good of the community outside of the office.”

Join the ranks of New York City’s Good Corporate Citizens today to demonstrate your company’s alliance with our local community while at the same time, enhancing employee morale and team building.
